941,859. Locomotive driving gear. F. HURTH, and H. HURTH. March 30, 1962, No. 12446/62. Headings B7H and B7L. The bogey of a railway locomotive is pivoted to the vehicle at 16 and is provided with a pair of wheel axles 5 and 6 connected together by a train of three or more gear-wheels, e.g. gears 7, 9 and 8 and driven from a prime mover (not shown), and gear-box 17 mounted on the vehicle, through a cardan shaft 14, bevel wheels 12 and 11 and gear 10, the joints of the cardan shaft being equidistant from the pivot 16. The gears 11, 12, 10, 7, 9 and 8 are enclosed in a casing 15 which may be a structural unit of the bogey frame.
