Abstract

941,436. Measuring electrically. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. April 27, 1961 [May 4, 1960], No. 15698/60. Heading G1N. The moisture content of a gas is determined by passing it through a moisture absorbent cell and measuring the electrolysis current. The cell comprises two glass plates 1, 2 (Fig. 1) spaced apart by bronze strips 3, and clamped between end plates 5, 5a together with spring strips 4. A spacer 6 seals the space between the end plates 5, 5a. Each glass plate 1, 2 is covered with a double zig-zag printed strip of platinum, each strip being connected down one side of the plates 1, 2 by a bronze strip 3, and taken to terminals 17,18. The platinum strips are covered with phosphoric acid and dried, to provide an absorbent for the moisture. The test gas is fed through ports 9,10 at a controlled rate.
