Abstract
940,062. Sealing tubeless tyres on wheel rims. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. March 25, 1960 [April 8, 1959], No. 11800/59. Heading B7C. An open bellied tubeless tyre 1, which may be moulded to the conventional toroidal section, or to an axially flattened shape having a sectional width in the uninflated condition of half that in the unloaded inflated condition such as disclosed in Specification 940,061 is formed, on the axially outermost faces of its beads, with integral annular flexible rubber flanges 10, 11 which extend parallel with, and in spaced relation to, said bead faces to provide for initial air-tight engagement with the bead retaining flanges such as 15, Fig. 2, of a well-based rim 14, or 20, 21 of the rim of a two-part spare wheel 16, Figs. 3 and 4. The spare wheel 16 is shown in Fig. 3 assembled for use with a sealing ring 22 between its two sections and its rim portions 17, 18 in divergent relation. Fig. 4 shows the wheel assembled for stowage with the rim section 17 nested in a recess 19 of the section 18.
