Abstract
940,028. Polymer compositions. MONSANTO CHEMICAL CO. June 15, 1960 [June 15, 1959], No. 20990/60. Heading C3P. A composition comprises an ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymer in which the vinyl acetate forms from 5 to 95 % by weight of the copolymer having admixed therewith finely divided zinc oxide, zinc sulphide, titanium dioxide or lithopone. Finely divided silica carbon black or calcium carbonate may also be present as well as phenol stabilizers e.g. 4,4<SP>1</SP>-butylidene bis (6-tbutyl-m-cresol) bis (6-t-butyl-m-cresol)-sulphide. The copolymer may also contain a third monomer or may be partially hydrolysed. An organic peroxygen compound may be incorporated into the compositions (a list is given) and the compositions may be cured. The compositions may be made into soles for sports shoes, tubing, windshield wipers and tyre sidewalls.
