Abstract
939,724. Automatic current control systems for radio frequency heating apparatus. RADYNE Ltd. Dec. 1, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 39158/59. Class 38 (4). Radio frequency heating apparatus comprises a radio frequency generator of the electronic valve oscillator type the H.T. current supply to which is supplied by way of a resistor 2, the voltage across this resistor energizing a winding 6 of a centre-balance relay A/1 a further winding 7 of which is energized by a standard voltage obtained from a potentiometer 5. When the H.T. current varies outside a predetermined range the windings 6, 7 of the relay A/1 are unbalanced causing the centre contact 9 to move to engage either contact 8 or 10 whereupon a relay system operates to cause one or other of the windings of a motor 11 to be energized so that the motor drives the upper electrode of the heater either towards or away from the burner electrode so that the output of the radio frequency generator is maintained within the predetermined range. The motor 11 is provided with an electromagnetic brake 12. The electrodes are provided with upper and lower limit switches 51, 52 and the control circuit may be described by means of switches S3, S4 and the motor 11 may be controlled manually by means of push buttons 15, 16 and 17, 18.
