Abstract
939,586. Universal joints. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE G.m.b.H. April 14, 1961 [April 15, 1960], No. 13572/61. Class 80 (2). [Also in Group XXXI] A driving motor is resiliently suspended on one side to the vehicle chassis and is supported on the other side upon a pair of stub shafts 12, 15 fixedly disposed in the motor housing and each being supported by roller bearings upon a large gear-wheel which is integral with the hub of the driving wheel which includes a rubber ring affording resilient support. Two variants are shown. The motor has driving pinions 3 meshing with large pinions 5 which are integral with the hubs of the driving wheels and which are mounted either by bearings 11 or by bearings 13, 14 upon the stub shaft 12 or 15. The wheels comprises rubber rings-7 bonded to inner and outer rings 6 and 8, the outer rings 8 bearing against rings 17 of the driving wheels 9 which incorporate ribs 18 which are constructed as cooling fins or fan blades for dissipating braking and coupling heat.
