Abstract
Elastomeric butadiene-butene-2 copolymers are vulcanized by polymerizing butadiene and butene-2 in an inert hydrocarbon solvent solution using as an Alfin catalyst an alkali metal alkenyl, an alkoxide and a halide and adding a vulcanizing agent to the solvent suspension. Sulphur is the preferred vulcanizing agent while compounding ingredients such as processing oils may also be present. The usual other compounding ingredients may be present.
