939,340. Bearings. RANCO Inc. Jan. 19, 1962 [Oct. 21, 1960], No. 36253/60. Class 12 (1). In a bearing arrangement for a rotary shaft 12, the shaft is carried at each end in a spherical bearing 13 mounted in a recess 14 of a frame 11 and retained therein by a bearing-cap 15 having a pair of teeth 22 which extend inwardly therefrom to engage the spherical bearing and thus prevent rotation but permit limited alignment thereof. The bearing cap is formed from a strip of phosphorbronze plate; has an arcuate portion 20 with a rectangularlyshaped aperture 21 therein, each end of the aperture 21 being formed with the teeth 22 which bite into the bearing 13; and is held to the frame 11 by screws 17. The spherical bearing 13 is of porous bronze and has been soaked in oil.
