Abstract

938,532. Friction clutches. MECCANICA GARELLI S.p.A. May 4, 1962 [March 3, 1962], No. 17300/62. Class 80 (2). In a motor-cycle centrifugal clutch, an annular rubber rim 2 is carried on a star-shaped hub 1, fast with a driving shaft AM, and expanded centrifugally with a non-slip self-tightening action into engagement with a driven drum 5 fast with an output worm 7, the rubber rim 2 being also axially movable on the hub 1 for frictional engagement with an end wall 6 of the drum 5 for push or kick-starting, and controlled by a cable-operated cam 13 and thrust-rod 11 acting through a disc 8 to which the rubber rim 2 is secured. The driving hub 1 is formed from two parts riveted together and the driven drum 5 is connected to the worm 7 by an internally-toothed disc 15 welded to the drum.
