Abstract

Process for production of town-gas having a low NO-content comprises supplying ozone to town-gas at a pressure of at the most 6 atmospheres and scrubbing thereafter the gas to remove the formed NO2. The NO2-scrubbing may be performed by spraying with an aqueous solution of sodium carbonate and bicarbonate. The process may be preceded by scrubbing to remove naphthalene, benzene and other light aromatic hydrocarbons. The NO-content is reduced to 0,04 p.p.m.
