Abstract

936,781. Stoppers for flexible tubes; collapsible tubes. ETABLISSEMENTS GIRAUD, PROVOST & CIE. Dec. 4, 1961, No. 43327/61. Classes 66 and 125(3). A stopper for a nozzle 21 of a flexible tube 22, for dispensing e.g. toothpaste and which is initially sealed by a membrane 24, comprises a collar 20 formed integrally with a detachable pusher member 28, for use as a dispensing die, see Fig. 4, and to cut out said membrane when a separate screw cap 35 is screwed down, the pusher member then locking in position beneath a protruding edge 26 on the collar. In a modification, the collar is omitted and the nozzle itself is externally screw-threaded; before use, a nipple on the underside of a partition 36 on the cap extends into an axial passage in the pusher member to temporarily fix them together, and a washer around the nozzle prevents the cap from being screwed down too far.
