Abstract
935,223. Measuring displacement electrically. FIELDEN ELECTRONICS Ltd. June 26, 1962 [May 8, 1961], No. 16580/61. Class 40 (1). Apparatus for measuring longitudinal displacement comprises a differential transformer 3 (Fig. 1), connected between the input and output of an amplifier 1, causing the amplifier to oscillate, the position of the displaceable core 9 determining which secondary winding 6 or 7 produces the larger output voltage. The secondary windings 6, 7, shunted by Zener diodes 12, feed into a load resistance 13 through rectifiers 14, and the potential across output terminals 16, 16 indicates by its magnitude and polarity the magnitude and direction of the displacement of the core 9 from its central position.
