934,748. Photographic cameras; viewfrinders CARL ZEISS-STIFTUNG, [trading as C. ZEISS [firm of]]. Oct. 12, 1959 [Nov. 5, 1958], No. 34531/59. Classes 97 (1) and 98 (1). A photographic camera including a viewfinder comprising an inclined plane mirror fixed in the light path from the camera objective is characterized in that the mirror lies symmetrically to the optical axis in front of the camera diaphragm and is coated so that its reflection coefficient in zones distant from the camera axis differs from in the zones nearer the axis in such a way that the viewfinder receives the main part of its image forming rays from the zones of the mirror distant from the axis. As shown, an annular mirror 5 is formed between two triangular prisms cemented together to form a cube and is placed between the rear Group III containing a diaphragm Bl and the middle movable Group II of a variable focal length objective which forms an image on the camera film at 8. A lens group 2<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>1</SP>, 7<SP>1</SP> similar to the Group III is placed in the reflected viewfinder beam to form an image on a ground glass screen at 81. The Specification refers also to employing a reflector having a central mirror portion for exposing the film and a transparent surround through which the viewfinder light passes directly.
