Abstract
934,517. Making pipes. COMPAGNIE DE PONT-A-MOUSSON. March 9, 1962 [March 31, 1961], No. 9102/62. Class 99(2). In a process for making pipes and tubes of a material including cement, e.g. asbestos and cement, the material is rolled on to a rotatable mandrel M consisting of a synthetic organic material, such as polyvinvyl chloride, or polypropylene, and the coated mandrel is then placed in a maturing oven, the matured and hardened pipe b then being removed from the mandrel. As shown, the coated mandrels are rolled from the coating apparatus A along a table B to an endless conveyer C, consisting of a chain 4 and rollers 5, passing through a drying oven D heated in such a manner that the temperature therein decreases from the entrance 6 to the exit 7 Each mandrel expands adjacent the entrance to the oven and causes radial expansion of the pipe b carried thereby and at the exit from the oven when the mandrel has returned to the initial diameter thereof the pipe has become completely unstuck from the mandrel for easy removal of the pipe.
