Abstract
A mixture of 1,5- and 1,8-dinitro-naphthalenes is separated into its two components by cooling a solution of the mixture in dimethyl formamide at 85 to 100 DEG C. to 15 to 30 DEG C. to crystallise out the 1,5-dinitro isomer, separating the crystals from the liquid phase, and thereafter removing the solvent from the remaining solution to obtain the 1,8-dinitro isomers.
