Abstract

932,736. Valves. FISHER & LUDLOW Ltd. Feb. 17, 1960 [Feb. 21, 1959], No. 6046/59. Class 135. A pinch cock for controlling the flow of liquid in a flexible tube comprises a base 11 having two supporting members 16, an abutment member 13, and a solenoid 22, the armature 23 of which being adapted to move perpendicularly to the abutment member and transversely to the axis of the tube in order to pinch the latter and thereby cut off or reduce the flow therethrough, the two supporting members each being formed with a key-hole slot 17 for permitting installation of the tube into the operating position and for retaining it in such position. The supporting members form the sides of a sheet-metal U- section member 14 secured to the abutment 13 of the sheet-metal base 11, such as by spot welding. A plate 24 is secured to the end of the armature 23 and is arranged to normally pinch the tube as shown in Fig. 3 under the action of a spring 28 acting on the armature. Upon energization of the solenoid the armature is withdrawn and the tube returns under its own elasticity to the full diameter. An extension arm 26 is formed integrally with the plate 24 in order that the cock may be manually actuated.
