Abstract

932,195. Automatic circuit-breakers. WESTINGHOUSE ELECTRIC CORPORATION. Aug. 17, 1961 [Sept. 26, 1960], No. 29757/61. Class 38 (5). A circuit-breaker generally as described in Specifications 905,772 and 926,076 has its mounting clips insulated from the breaker circuit which is connected to a conductor which passes through an adjacent housing to a terminal therein. As shown in Figs. 3, 6 and 10 the mounting clips 17 located in adjacent housings 11, 13 are separated from the fixed contact 21 by an insulating plate 19. The housing 11 contains the circuit-breaker and the fixed contact 21 thereof is mounted on a conductor 31 which passes through an aperture into the housing 13 and has an extended arm 125 carrying a terminal 127 (Fig. 5) alongside the other terminal 104 of the circuit-breaker. The handle 157 of the trip-free circuit-breaker may be held in either extreme position by a member 145 (Fig. 8) which has one end 148 shaped to fit around the handle 157 and its other end 147 shaped to fit in a groove in either end of a projection 141 on the housing 13. In Fig. 10 a second circuit-breaker in a housing 11 has its fixed contact 167 on a mounting clip 163 and an adjacent housing 13 contains only the co-operating clip 161. The second circuit-breaker may have no tripping means and be opened by tripping of the first circuit-breaker through a lost-motion connector 171 between handles 57, 57<SP>1</SP>.
