930,267. Hand-rails. P. O'CONNOR. Feb. 25, 1960, No. 6653/60. Class 45. A post 1 has laterally projecting tapered spigots 2 which fit into the ends of tubular members 3. The spigots may be cast integral with the post or may be welded on, in which case they may be made from short lengths of tubing 12, Figs. 4 and 5, which has been partly flattened in cross-section, so that the spigots are tapered longitudinally. The spigots may also be separately formed as detail 6 in Fig. 7 and secured by through bolts 5 and nuts 7. A T-headed bolt, inserted through a slot 4a in the post may also be used. In the case of a gate-post the bolt 5 has a ring-head to form an eye for a hinge-pin (not shown-see Fig. 8).
