A hanger for a suspended ceiling is constituted by a pair of identical sheet metal plates 4, Fig. 1, connected face to face for scissor-like pivoting action by a bolt 5 passing through an aperture 4f in each part, located intermediate a slot 4c which forms a jaw engageable with support member 1 and a channel formed along a fold line 4b. The channels on the two parts 4 face each other for endwise reception of the upper flange of an H-sectioned trim member 3 which supports the panels 2. The adjacent ends of a pair of abutting trim members 3 may be received in the channels of the members 4. The trim member or members 3 lock the parts 4 in register. Nuts 6 on the bolts 5 are tightened up to grip the members 3 in the channels. In a modification the slots in the parts 4 are shaped to engage the lower flanges of an inverted T- section support member instead of the circular member shown in Fig. 1. In a further embodiment, one of the hanger parts 4, Fig. 3, has a slot 4g adapted to engage the lower horizontal flange of an angle member 8 whilst the other hanger part 4h is shaped to engage over the top of the vertical flange of the angle member 8. The hangers may also be used with trim members having a perpendicular strengthening rib projecting centrally above the upper flanges, this rib being located between the facing upstanding portions of the hanger parts.
