Abstract
927,757. Electron multiplier circuits. COMMISSARIAT A L'ENERGIE ATOMIQUE. Dec. 15, 1959 [Dec. 16, 1958], No. 42644/59. Class 40 (3). [Also in Group XL (c)] A photomultiplier having a number of dynodes is stabilized by connecting one of the dynodes to a source of potential which is an increasing linear function of the tube supply, and the remaining dynodes to a potential divider across the supply, the proportionality factor of the function being equal to the slope of the rectilinear portion of a constant gain curve of the tube. As shown, a stabilizing tube, preferably a corona effect tube 8 is connected between resistors 7a, 7b, 9 across the supply 5, and a potential divider 10a, 10b, 10c is connected across the tube 8 with its tapping point connected to one of the dynodes 3a. The gain is stabilized by adjustment of resistor 7b, and the overall gain controlled by potentiometer 10b.
