Abstract
927,469. Plansifters. BUHLER GEB. Aug. 30, 1960 [Sept. 16, 1959], No. 29889/60. Class 117. The side walls 1 of a plansifter compartment provide guide ducts for the material being treated, and have vertically spaced pairs of rails 3 extending therealong on to each pair of which a sifter frame 4 is slid. Each frame includes a sieve mesh 5 and a coarse mesh 6 between which cleaning means such as balls &c. are accommodated. Each frame is grooved at 9 to slidably receive the tongues 12 of a further frame 10 or 19 which is urged against the sifter frame by springs 14. The latter are secured to the frame 10 or 19 and contact the lower surfaces of a pair of rails. The frames 10 carry base-plates or collecting bottoms 11 over which material passes laterally to the guide ducts, whereas the frames 19 serve merely as spacers. The plates 11 include handles 16 to facilitate their removal. Sealing strips 8 and 13 on the frames 4, 10 and 19 avoid the formation of gaps or dead spaces in which material may be deposited. Instead of leaf-springs 14, tapered projections may be located on the frames 10 and 19, with coverings of plush &c., which engage with the undersides of the rails.
