Abstract

927,191. Dryer felts of paper-making machines. ALBANY FELT CO. May 8, 1961 [Sept. 21, 1960], No. 16682/61. Classes 42 (2), 74 (2) and 96. A felt for the dryer section of a paper-making machine comprises a coarsely woven, permeable base fabric, e.g. of polyester yarns which may be of 3- and 5-ply of specified weight and twist, the surfaces of the fabric being covered with fibres locked thereto as by needling, e.g. 40 to 60% of polyester fibres which may be applied as two or three layers. The base fabric may be dimensionally stabilized, e.g. within 2% as by running at 300‹ to 400‹ F. under 20 to 30 lb. per inch width tension, and the needled fabric may be washed, and dried under tension at elevated temperature.
