Class 79(2) [Also in Group XXIV] A transmission gear incorporating a power take-off for a tractor, especially a walk-type tractor, comprises an engine-driven input shaft 10, an output shaft 11 for driving the tractor wheels, a shaft 12 rotatably mounted on the shaft 10 and integral with gears 13 and 14, gears 22 and 23, the latter having internal teeth, fixed to the shaft 10, a gearset 15 comprising the gears 16 and 17 rotatably mounted on the shaft 11 and a gearset 21 comprising the gears 19 and 20 axially slidable but non-rotatably mounted on the shaft 11. The shaft 12 may be brought to the position shown in which position the gearset 21 may be brought to positions whereby the gear 19 engages the gear 13, or the gear 20 engages the gear 14, so providing two output speeds of the shaft 11 through the routes 22, 16, 17, 13 and 19 or 22, 16, 17, 13, 14 and 20. By shifting the shaft 12 to the right so that gear 14 engages the internally toothed gear 23 locking the shafts 10 and 12 together, two more speeds are obtained by engaging the gears 19 and 13 and the gears 20 and 14. The gearshift mechanism comprises the elements 31 and 32 having claws 33 and 35 respectively, slidable on a shaft 30 located in a vertical plane intermediate the shafts 10 and 11 and formed on a hollow lever 46 and a bell crank lever 36, respectively, the latter being pivoted to an arm 38 integral with the member 31 and operated through a shaft 40 and eccentric 42 keyed to a shaft 43 rotated by a handle 45. By moving the lever 46 about a pivot 47 the shaft 12 is slid on the shaft 10, the gearset 21 participating simultaneously with the movement, and by rotating the handle 45, the gearset 21 is brought to its two positions relative to the shaft 12. The shaft 12 may also be brought to an intermediate neutral position. A power take-off shaft 50 is rotatably mounted on the shaft 11 and is provided with splines 51 upon which slides a splined sleeve 53 having internal teeth 54 which may be brought into engagement with either a gear 55 secured to the shaft. 11 or teeth 56 provided in the gearset member 15 or to a neutral intermediate position, with the aid of a sleeve shifting member 59. The power takeoff shaft 50 can thus be driven independently of the tractor wheels from the shaft 10 through the route 22, 16, 56, 54, 52 and 51 or, by engaging the teeth 54 with the gear 55, at the same speed as the wheel driving shaft 11.
