Abstract
926,929. Reciprocating pumps. TEXSTEAM CORPORATION. Nov. 28, 1961 [Nov. 28, 1960], No. 42448/61. Class 102(1). A pressure liquid operated pump comprises a pump piston 45 connected to a power piston 18 having a piston rod 20 extending into a chamber 66 into which the pressure inlet 81 opens, a valve 87 being reciprocated under the control of a pilot valve 77, actuated by the piston rod, to connect the chamber 30 alternately to the pressure supply from chamber 66 or to exhaust. The pump piston 45 is of bucket type with a non-return valve 63 and draws in liquid through a lift valve 53 and expels it on both strokes through chamber 48 and outlet 61. In the position of the valves 77, 87, shown in Fig. 2, pressure liquid from chamber 66 passes through port 72 to chamber 100 to hold piston 92, attached to valve 87, to the left whereby port 111 is open to chamber 66 and pressure liquid flows through pipe 112, at a rate controlled by valve 34, to chamber 30 to drive the power piston 18 to the right. At the end of the stroke the piston rod 20 contacts valve 77 to move it to the right, whereby port 72 is connected to an exhaust port 71 to exhaust chamber 100, so that valve 87 is moved to the right, by liquid pressure in chamber 85, to connect port 111 to exhaust port 114. The piston 18 is then forced to the left by the pressure liquid in chamber 66 acting on the end of rod 20. At the end of the leftward stroke, pilot valve 77 is returned to the position of Fig. 2 and the cycle is repeated. Air is bled from the pump chamber by bleed valve 58.
