Abstract
926,673. Toothbrush &c. holders. I. COWAN. May 24, 1961, No. 18676/61. Classes 52 (1) and 131. An enclosed toothbrush rack comprises a base having slots to receive the brushes, and ahousing 15 enclosing the brush heads and having doors 30 each of which is pivoted at 12, 13 in the base and in the top wall of the housing and is operated by insertion or removal of a brush. The housing has a partition 17, a container 65 for disinfectant being mounted in each compartment which also has two brush-receiving slots 20, 21, each of which is closed by an outer plate 40 and an inner plate 50 mutually pivoted on a pin 35 mounted in a base-plate 10 and in a cross-bar 55 secured in spaced relation to the baseplate by a stud 57. A wing 32 extends from the lower edge of the door and has a cam edge 34 engaging a pin 44 on the plate 40 and a pin 53 on the lower surface of the plate 50 engages a shoulder 49 on the plate 40 so that the plates are moved against spring action to slot-opening position when the door is moved inwards by pressure of a toothbrush. The plates are spring-urged to slotclosing position when the inserted brush has cleared the plate 50 which is slotted at 51 toallow variation in the size of brush. On removal, the brush cams the plates to open position and is pressed against the door to open it.
