Abstract
925,845. Driving spindles. J. J. KEYSER. April 26, 1961 [April 28, 1960], No. 15021/61. Class 120 (2). Textile spindles 2 (see Fig. 1) are driven from a primary driving belt means 12 via an intermediate pulley or pulley assembly 6 and secondary belts 4 or 14. The secondary belts run in grooves 5, 15 while the primary belt engages the outer ends of the grooves. The pulley shaft 8 is adjustable in base 1 so that the tension in the secondary belts is adjustable. In a further similar form two primary belts are provided which engage in the same grooves as the secondary belts but are radially displaced therefrom. In Fig. 5, each pulley means 31 drives four spindles and alternate ones are displaced to be driven by one run of the primary belt while the remaining pulleys are driven by the opposite run of the primary belt. In further forms the intermediate pulley assembly comprises three pulleys fixed on a single shaft, the intermediate pulley engaging the primary belt while the secondary belts engage the outer pulleys and run to separate wharls on the same spindle or to different spindles. Three grooves formed in the same pulley may be similarly used. The belts may be flat or round or may have teeth or slots to engage teeth on the pulley means (see Figs. 6 and 7, not shown). The driving apparatus may be enclosed to prevent draughts created thereby from disturbing the paths of the threads.
