A roof of a caravan &c. has a depressed well 3 which houses a cover 6 closing the roof aperture 5 thus obviating any increase in overall height of the van. The cover 6 has downturned edges and is supported from the roof by hinged links at each end so that the ends of the cover may be raised independently or together.
