Abstract

924,902. Shuttle races. SULZER FRERES S.A. May 2, 1960 [May 8, 1959], No. 15433/60. Class 142 (2). A sley 19 has a magnetic shuttle race 26 for guiding the shuttle. The magnets may be electrically energized wires or separate permanent magnets 28 which may be variously arranged and shaped (Figs. 10-15, not shown) or gapped to provide a variable field strength, e.g. for retarding the shuttle at the sley ends. The shuttle may be guided by bars 32 or the race and shuttle may be shaped (Fig. 5). For a vertical loom (Fig. 9) only one guide 32 need be provided.
