Abstract

924,474. Holders for thermionic valves. UNITED-CARR FASTENER CORPORATION. Aug. 8, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 27485/60. Class 38 (1). A holder, for an electrical device (e.g. a valve) having projecting terminal prongs and consisting of a body of insulating material 22 (Fig. 4), having a plurality of contact equipped openings 29-33 (Fig. 4) for receiving the terminal prongs 17-21 (Fig. 2) and an electrically conductive (Fig. 5) mounting member 23 secured to the body by ears 53, 54 (Fig. 5) and provided with ears 47, 48 and flange 45 for attachment to a panel 12, has channels 58, 59 for receiving two ears 15, 16 of an electrically conductive valve shield 14, the mounting member having elements 61, 62 projecting into the channels for earthing engagement with the inserted ears 15, 16. The mounting member is so positioned that the prong-receiving surface of the insulating body is aligned with the upper surface of the panel. The ears 15, 16 and channels 58, 59 are of different size to provide location means for the valve on the holder. A contact (Fig. 8, 9) consists of tail portion 25 which is inserted through a slot in the base of the body 22 until stopped by ears 37, 38 and then twisted, and an upper bifurcated portion having two wings 43, 44, inclined towards each other for gripping the inserted valve prong, which is guded into position by a sloping portion 39.
