Abstract

924,211. Reactors. SIEMENS-SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. July 28, 1959 [Aug. 12, 1958], No. 25873/59. Class 39 (4). The pressures of the coolant and moderator of a reactor are equalized by a system of pipes and containers in which a barrier liquid 7 is in direct contact on one side with the coolant 1 and on the other with a protective gas 8 which is in contact with the moderator 9. The system of containers may be replaced by a single container containing interpenetrating bells, Figs. 2 and 3 (not shown). Suitable materials are: coolant, CO 2 ; barrier liquid, D 2 O; protective gas, He; moderator, D 2 O.
