Abstract

923,573. Spray - producers. MACHINES ELECTROSTATIQUES S.A. DE. May 9, 1960 [May 12, 1959; May 20, 1959], No. 16316/60. Class 69 (3). A gun for the atomization and electrostatic projection of fine particles of coating material comprises a hollow head 4 to which a high potential is applied and comprising two wall members 20 which converge and form between their adjacent ends an opening 21 with resilient edges into which a blade 17 is normally urged to close it. The blade extends from a rod 16 connected to the core of an electric vibrator 8 supplied with A.C. by a cable 7 via a triggeroperated switch 12. Paint is supplied to the head via a pipe 3 and a trigger-operated valve 11, and high tension is applied to the head by a cable 5 via a high resistance 6. When the trigger is operated paint is fed to the head and the blade is vibrated longitudinally to open and close the outlet 21; atomized paint is thus fed towards an object to be coated which preferably is earthed. In a modification the vibrator consists of an electric motor with an eccentric which vibrates the rod 16.
