Abstract
923,071. Variable speed gear. NIKEX NEHEZIPARI KULKERESKEDELMI VALLALAT. Aug. 13, 1959 [Aug. 13, 1958], No. 27734/59. Class 80 (2). A two-element epicyclic friction gear for motor vehicles or machine tools comprises a planetary friction disc 5 carried by a variably eccentric ring 4 on a driving shaft 2, which disc 5 rolls around a stationary two-part ring 6 and drives the output shaft 3 through a shaft 7 which is univerally coupled to the disc 5 and shaft 3. The ring 4 has a rectangular bore through which a square part of the shaft 2 passes allowing radio movement of the ring in one plane, and the ring is biased towards an eccentric position by a spring 18. Ratio changes are effected by turning a lever 9 fast with one part of the ring 6, causing axial movement of the latter and increasing or decreasing the gap between the two parts of the ring 6, and hence the eccentricity and effective diameter of the disc 5 which is pressed into the gap by the spring 18 or by hydraulic or electromagnetic means.
