Abstract
A method of restoring the performance of a radar Doppler filter which has been seriously degraded by sample exclusion, e.g. due to noise corruption, including the steps of performing a first Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) 10 on the available samples, selecting from the FFT outputs a limited number of those outputs which relate to the lowest frequencies in the transform, performing an inverse FFT 18 on the selected outputs from the FFT, deriving from inverse FFT outputs an estimate of the clutter component, weighting this estimate 20, subtracting 14 the weighted estimate from the original data and then re-applying the modified data to the FFT.
