A printing machine for printing on textile fabrics &c. comprises a plurality of printing rollers 4 in contact with a freely mounted cylinder 3 and a plurality of toothed wheels 8 attached to said rollers and engaging a toothed driving wheel 7 attached to and coaxial with said cylinder; the diameter of the wheel 7 being different from that of the cylinder 3 so that when each roller is adjusted by its individual longitudinal adjustment means 21 the roller periphery slides over the periphery of the cylinder. Each roller 4 is supported at each end by an arm adjustable in length and constituted by a pneumatic jack 13 which is pivoted to the machine frame at 17 and applies the roller to the cylinder with the appropriate pressure. Each adjustment means 21 is pivoted about a pin 22 and comprises a threaded rod, Fig. 2 (not shown), which can be extended or withdrawn by rotation of a hand wheel 37 acting through worm gear so as to adjust the angular position of the arm 13. The swinging motion of the arm 13 displaces the shaft of the associated printing roller along an arc of a circle coaxial with the driving gear 7 to cause the driven pinion 8 to accelerate or decelerate the surface speed of its roller 4 with respect to the surface speed of the other printing rollers. If the axis 17 is not parallel with the shaft 2 of the cylinder 3 the length of the arm 13 may vary as a function of its angular position to retain contact between the cylinder and the roller.
