Abstract

920,463. Drainage inlets. J. 5. NEWMAN. Feb. 15, 1961, No. 5693/61. Class 33. A surface drainage structure relocatable at different heights to level it with a surface comprises a cup or bowl-shaped drain body 10 to be set in the surface and having an upper upstanding cylindrical wall 11, within which a generally tubular sleeve 17 telescopes, adjustable means formed on the wall 11 and sleeve 17 to fasten the sleeve 17 in different locations and forming a good liquid-tight seal therebetween and a grating 18 carried by the upper end of the sleeve 17. The fastening means may include a stepped abutment 23 (Fig. 2) in spiral formation on the interior of the wall 11, the sleeve 17 having a complementary end 24, and rolled threads 20 on the wall 11 complementary to threads 21 on the sleeve (Fig. 1) and a set screw 22 in the sleeve 17 may lock the sleeve 17 and 11 in position. The drain body 10 may have a flange 15 concentric with the wall 11, an annular channel therebetween receiving sealing means 16. In another form a tubular estension member has a lower end fastened within the wall 11 and an upper end fastened around the sleeve 17, thus maintaining them in spaced relation. The tubular member has a flange extending upward at or adjacent the mid-point from the interior thereof concentric with said upper end, which with the flange defines an annular channel to receive sealing means.
