Abstract

919,819. Threshing machines. MASSEYFERGUSON (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd. May 25, 1959 [June 6, 1958], No. 18071/58. Class 6(3). A combine-harvester threshing mechanism comprises two threshing drums 1, 3 with co-operating concaves 2, 4 arranged in upward series, the axes of the drums lying in the same vertical plane and the concaves lying on opposite sides of this plane so that the path traversed by the crop is of S-shape. The drums are of the type described in Specification 919,820, and have sheet-metal beaters 11. The second drum has a speed of rotation 10-20% higher than the first and it may have a smaller clearance with its concave. Crop is supplied by a feeding mechanism 5 and grain passing through the concave 2 is. received by a collector 6. Grain separated by the drum 3 enters a casing 8A and is conveyed away by augers 8, 8B, 8C to join the product from the collector 6. Straw is delivered by the drum 3 to the straw-walkers 10.
