Apparatus for corrugating strip metal includes opposed dies which move at right-angles to the plane of the stock, one of the dies also being moved in a direction parallel to the plane of the stock to effect the strip feed. A lower die 42 secured on a member 36 is vertically reciprocated by cams 18, 18a which rock levers 23, 23a carrying at one end a shaft 31a in turn carrying adjustable rollers 33 engaging the member 36. An upper die 58 likewise carried by a member 52 is vertically reciprocated by the cams 18, 18a rocking levers 24, 24a. The member 52 is slidable on vertical guide posts 53 projecting from a die block 54 and the whole assembly thereof is movable along horizontal guides 61, 61a by adjustable linkage means 62, 70, 71 rocked by a cam 19 and similar means 62a rocked by a cam 19a. In operation, from a position in which both dies are closed, Fig. 7, and the die 58 is at the end of its leftward stroke, the die 42 is retracted and the die 58 moved to the right to feed the strip at the same time lifting slightly to relieve friction forces. The die 42 is then closed to form a fold in the strip in co-operation with the die 58. The die 58 then retracts and then moves to the left while the die 42 lowers slightly to relieve friction forces. The die 58 is then closed into its initial position. The adjusting mechanism may be operated so that folds having differing height may be formed as the strip progresses through the dies. Strippers may be provided. Punching.-The dies may be provided with metal piercing members.
