Abstract

A product for the treatment of the scalp and hair is prepared by fermenting an aqueous medium containing sucrose or glucose and wheat germ with yeast especially barm. The temperature is 15 DEG to 40 DEG C. and preferably 25 DEG to 30 DEG C. and the medium contains 10 to 25% glucose and 4 to 20% wheat germ. After 24 hours fermentation, further additions of sucrose or glucose are added and fermentation continued. The liquid is allowed to settle, the clear liquid decanted and again allowed to settle. Perfume and colouring matter are added to the clear liquid so obtained to produce a scalp and hair lotion which is used to make the hair grow.
