Abstract

917,248. Filters. STAMICARBON N.V. June 21, 1961 [June 23, 1960; March 30, 1961], No. 22529/61. Class 46. [Also in Group XXVIII] Combined liquid raising and filtering apparatus for drawing liquid with entrained solids from a sump, e.g. in mines, comprises a vessel 4 in which the pressure is intermittently reduced, by passing compressed air through a nozzle 15, and a screen 2 provided beneath a flap-valve-controlled, gravity fed outlet 5 from vessel 4. The solids from screen 2 are removed by a conveyer 33 and the screened liquid passes to collection and storage tanks 3 and 27 from which it is withdrawn by a compressed-air-driven pump 28 controlled by a float-controlled valve 31. The compressed air supply to nozzle 15 is controlled by a float-operated valve 24 and timing device 12. In another embodiment the compressed air is supplied alternately to nozzle 15 and to vessel 4, thereby delivering the contents of vessel 4 under pressure to screen 2.
