Abstract

915,991. Bottle carriers. MEAD CORPORATION. April 8, 1960 [Feb. 10, I960], No. 12598/60. Class 18. A bottle &c. carrier formed from a cardboard blank comprises a handle 1, end panels 5, 6 foldably joined to the ends of the handle, side walls 2, 3 and a plurality of partition strips 30A, 38A, the distance between the end panels and the adjacent strips being less than the distance between adjacent strips. In forming the carrier the blank is first folded along the score lines 8 and 16, the partitioning strips 30A, 32A swinging about score lines 30, 31 and 32, 33 respectively and the handle portion DE moving over to the position P. Panels 14, 20 are then folded along score lines 15, 21, the blank folded along the medial line 42 of the handle and the bottom panel 22 glued to the panel 10. To set up the carrier the sides 2, 3 are pulled apart and the end panels forced inwardly until notches 25, 27 engage notch 26 in the bottom panel. Separate U-shaped inserts 56 are slipped in between the strips 30A, 38A and secured by slots 62 riding underneath the strips. The handle of the carrier is of the same, or a lesser, height than the bottles to facilitate stocking of the filled carriers. Specification 915,992 and U.S.A. Specification 2,537,452 are referred to.
