A double-thickness foundation girdle made of two-way stretch elastic material comprises an inner portion 11 with a vertical front seam, 13 and downwardly-extending portions 17, 18, 21, 22 for supporting suspenders. An outer portion 12 is sewn to the top edge 14, the seam 13, and the lower back edge 23 of the inner portion 11 and has downwardly-extending portions 35 for supporting suspenders.
