In an apparatus for producing printing master sheets, comprising a treatment device having a treatment bath, feed rollers, guide means and discharge rollers for developing a photographic sheet having a lightsensitive coating such as a gelatinesilver-halide emulsion which has been exposed to an original, the treatment device is combined with a contact pressure device having at least one pair of rollers drivable at a higher peripheral speed than the speed of said feed rollers and said discharge rollers and a device is provided for feeding two sheets to be brought into contact with each other, said feeding device comprising a separate feed guide for each of said two sheets for feeding them when placed thereon to the pair of rollers of said contact pressure device so that the sheets may meet each other between the pair of rollers of the contact pressure device. In a first embodiment (Fig. 1), the treatment device comprises a feed table 24 on which a photographic sheet 6 may be supported, feed rollers 29, 30 (29 of which is drivably connected to a motor 10), guide means 25, 26 for guiding sheets 6 through a developing bath 4 and discharge rollers 31, 32 (31 of which is drivably connected to motor 10). The contact pressure device comprises two rollers 35, 16 (16 of which is connected to the motor 10 to be driven at a higher peripheral speed than the rollers 12 and 13) and the feed device comprises two guides 36 and 38 arranged for guiding two sheets in super-position into the nip of said rollers 35, 16. In use, first a developed sheet 6 and an ink transfer sheet 8 and then said ink transfer sheet and a printing master sheet are pressed into contact with each other by the contact pressure device. Roller 16 is provided with a heating coil 34. A discharge tray is provided at 39 and an exposure device comprising a light source 23, a transparent cylindrical hood 5 and a resilient blind 7 is provided on top of the casing 2 of the main apparatus. In a modified embodiment (Fig. 2), it is arranged that as a photographic sheet 6 emerges from the guide means 25, 26 of the treatment device, it engages a fold 70 in an ink transfer sheet 8 supported in a removable tray 55, and carries this sheet with it into the nip between discharge rollers 35, 16 and out of the apparatus over a plate 39. Two other guide trays, 56 and 58 (56 of which is removable and 58 of which is adjustable about a pivot 53) are provided for respectively supporting the ink transfer sheet 8 and a printing master sheet (such as a sheet of paper 38) before these are fed in superposition between contact pressure rollers 79 and 80 (80 of which is driven from the motor 10). Means as at 46 connected to a storage tank 44 are provided for maintaining the developer in container 3 constant at a chosen level BC. A thermostatically controlled heater may be included in the tank 44.
