Abstract

913,453. Sewing machines etc.; cabinets &c. SINGER MANUFACTURING CO. May 4, 1961 [May 6, 1960], No. 16283/61. Class 52 (3). [Also in Group XXV] A sewing machine 31 is pivoted to the top surface 17 of a cabinet at its front edge and rests on bumpers 26 fixed to the flap 21 which is attached by hinge 22 to the remainder of the cabinet table surface at its rear edge. The hinge (see Group XXV) at the front of the sewing machine is formed by two open bootshaped sockets in members which are fitted in recesses in the cabinet top and two pintles 32, 33 with cylindrical portions 44 located in the sewing machine base by the key portions 45, a disc part 47, and oval-shaped trunnions 48 which limit the swinging movement of the pivot by abutting the edges of the sockets. The bumpers 26 and a bumper on the front face 19 of the cabinet take some of the load from the trunnions in supporting the sewing machine in its raised and lowered positions. The sewing machine may be removed from the cabinet by passing the trunnions 48 through the apertures 55, 65 of the sockets. Specification 809,805 is referred to.
