Abstract
911,824. Photographic cameras. AGFA A.G. May 1, 1959 [May 2, 1958], No. 15035/59. Class 98 (1). [Also in Group XL (b)] A camera having an automatic exposure regulating device includes transmission means arranged to derive movement from a manual release member and connected either to diaphragm or shutter speed setting means, both setting means being interconnected by means adapted, when the one of the interconnected means connected to the transmission means has reached the end of its range of setting movement, to lock the interconnected means together for common movement in which the second of the interconnected means enters a range of setting movement, the exposure regulating device being arranged to arrest the transmission means in a position in which the exposure set thereby corresponds to the measured light intensity, and the manual release member being arranged for continued movement, after arrest of the transmission means, to release the shutter. In the embodiment shutter speed setting ring 6 carries a pin 7 penetrating a slot 8 in diaphragm setting ring 5. Member 12 is displaceable in direction X by a knob 13 and is further connected to a photo-electric exposure regulator to move in direction X, as described in Specification 888,973, independently of the path of knob 13. A pin 16, attached to a shutter housing, penetrates a slot 17 in the diaphragm setting ring and the pin serves to anchor a return spring 18 connected by pin 19 to the diaphragm ring. As illustrated the diaphragm ring is set to the widest aperture and the shutter ring to the lowest speed. On depression of knob 13 the exposure regulator is brought into operation to control member 12 and shutter speed is varied by ensuring clockwise movement of pin 7. With high ambient light, member 12 is displaced further and pin 7, after reaching the end of guide 8, moves the diaphragm setting ring to adjust to a smaller aperture whilst the exposure time remains at its lowest value. After exposure, member 12 and therewith the shutter speed setting ring are returned to their original positions by spring 15, and the diaphragm setting ring is restored by spring 18.
