[Also in Group IX] The roll film spool of the parent Specification which comprises a pair of flanges joined by a central core which is permeated by at least one longitudinally extending axial slot wedge - shaped transversely of the core and contains inside the slot a radially deformable cylindrical clamping element mounted parallel to the core axis, is modified in that the or each slot has a wide open end 3 in one half of the core as viewed in cross-section, tapers in the middle of the core to approximately twice the film thickness, and merges into a wedge-shaped portion 4 of small angle, the outer end of which is constricted or provided with locking projections 7 to prevent the deformable clamping element 6 from falling out. The clamping element may be roughened or provided with axial channelling or may be a helical spring.
