An oil-burning space heater comprises a burner-in a casing which has a heat-emitting opening in its front and an imperforate back, or a reflector partition between the burner and the back; and an oil container in front of, and below the top of, the burner. The main casing 1 comprises a front opening 2 with a bottomhinged mesh guard 4, and a surrounding frame 3. Inside this casing is an inner casing 8 with a polished surface 9 at its top. The oil container 11 has a handle 12 and fits loosely within the housing 10 in front of the main casing, the housing having a hinged cover 13 with a polished top surface. Between the container and the burner 6 are three walls 14, 16, and 15 containing air spaces which are open at their top and bottom ends. The oil from the container passes through a drip feed valve 19, which is operated by a pin 21, into a lower cup 22 with a sump 23 from which a pipe 25 leads to a manual control valve 26 of the type disclosed in Specification 821,851. Oil from valve 26 passes to the annular howl 23 of the burner 6, disclosed in Specification 877,097. Between the bowl 29 and the bottom plate 35 of the casing is an annular gap 34 leading into a cup 36, and causing a complete change of direction of the primary air flow before passing up through the bowl. Secondary air can reach the burner through the bottom annular space between the walls 32 and 33. Hinged covers 38, 40 controlling openings 37, 39 in the top of the casings 1, 8 are actuated by a bimetallic strip, as described in Specification 910,173.
