909,667. Patterned uppers. CLARKE & CO. Ltd., J. H. Feb. 13, 1961 [Feb. 12, 1960], No. 5046/60. Drawings to Specification. Class 17 (2). Patterned shoes are formed by punching apertures in the main upper material of the shoe, locating in these apertures similarlyshaped, separate, ornamental pieces of a suitable material and securing these pieces to a lining or backing which extends across the apertures. The ornamental pieces may be cemented and stitched into position, the stitching extending across the ornamental piece and being continued over the main upper material to form part of the pattern. Perforations may also be incorporated into the pattern.
