Abstract

907,121. Drying granular material; heating or cooling granular material. WERKSPOOR N.V. June 13, 1961 [June 24, 1960], No. 21341/61. Classes 34 (2) and 64 (2). [Also in Group XXX] Granular material is dried, heated or cooled during conveyance along a shaking gutter, the bottom of which is both perforated for the passage therethrough of a gas from a lower chamber, and also provided with sheets of thin flexible material which are secured to the bottom at one of their transverse edges. Material, e.g. sugar, passes along a shaking conveyer formed within a casing 1, by strips 4 of perforated metal secured to the side walls of the casing to form a horizontal bottom surface and between each pair of adjacent strips a sheet 6 of thin flexible sheet material e.g. rubber is secured at 5 by one transverse edge, the free transverse edge overlapping the adjacent sheet. Drying gas is introduced into the chamber beneath the bottom surface. In a modification the strips 4 may be replaced by a single continuous sheet of wire gauze or other pervious material.
