Abstract

A sanitary napkin comprises an absorbent pad 1, enclosed in a gauze wrapper 2, outside which there is an impervious sheet 3 of polyethylene film extending over the lower face and side edges of the pad, the whole being wrapped in an outer gauze cover 6. Preferably, the film sheet 3 has a layer of cotton fabric 4, 5 on each side of it, the inner one being of sufficient size to cover the top face of the pad as well as the sides and lower face, while the outer sheet 5 is of approximately the same size as the film 3. To prevent displacement, the film sheet 3 is stitched to the lower cotton sheet 4.
