Abstract
905,529. Radiants; gas burners. ACIDE CARBONIQUE PUR. Dec. 23, 1958 [Dec. 24, 1957; Dec. 18, 1958], No. 41550/58. Classes 75 (1) and 126. A surface burner comprises a number of elements 2 arranged side-by-side, with grooves 7 formed in one adjacent edge of each element on the non-radiating side, and slits 9 extending from the opposite edge of each element and having openings 10 on the radiating side, which communicate with the groove 7 of an adjacent element to form gas passages. The elements may be stepped, Fig. 2, to hold them in position, and a cylindrical burner, Fig. 4, may be formed of a number of split annular elements having grooves at their inner edges and slits extending radially inwards. The radiating surface may be covered with a metal mesh screen 14, or the slits 9 may open into recesses formed in the radiating face to cause the flame to cling to the surface.
